The first day of Myanmar beach holiday. Welcome to Mandalay! Mandalay, the second largest city of Myanmar and one of the ancient royal capitals is often perceived and described in literature as Asia at its most traditional, timeless and alluring but those who go meet a booming and vibrant city located on the banks of the Irrawaddy River. However, despite the energy and thriving business it's where the cultural heart of Myanmar lies and tradition of music, dance and drama are still alive. 

In the afternoon, visit Mahamuni Pagoda, and Kuthodaw Pagoda (known as the world’s Biggest Book). Visit U Bein Bridge across Taungthaman Lake, over150 years old and which is still in use, from where you enjoy the sunset.

An excursion by boat on the Ayeyarwaddy River to Mingun, 11km upriver from Mandalay. Visit unfinished MingunPaya, MingunBell (90 tons) and HsinbyumePaya. Come back to Mandalay.

In the morning, you will take a flight to Bagan. Upon arrival, start your trip with a visit to Nyang U Market which is a typical market which remained in Myanmar for centuries.

Next, head to Shwezigon pagoda, which is one of the most significant religious buildings in Myanmar, for it served as a prototype for later stupas built throughout the country and marked an important development in the relationship between traditional Burmese religion and Theravada Buddhism.
 
Continue on to Khay Min Ga Temple to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of numerous surrounding monuments. Next up of Myanma beach tour is Ananda Temple. A masterpiece in the incorporation of Myanmar and India architectural styles, the temple houses four standing Buddhas, each facing a distinct direction. 
 
After lunch (lunch on your own), visit a local lacquer ware workshop. Here, you will have chance to learn more about traditional techniques of craftsmen and admire unique and beautiful products.

In the afternoon, visit other famous temples in Bagan such as Dhammayangyi Temple, Htilominlo Temple.

The highlight of today is the breathtaking sunset beauty from the Shwesandaw Pagoda. Back to your hotel in the late afternoon.

Keep Myanmar beach vacation. Your trip to Mt Popa and Salay begins after breakfast, when you are picked up at your hotel.

On the way to Salay, you drive south, parallel to the Irrawaddy River. After about one hour you stop at Chauk where a colorful morning market is waiting for you to be explored. Only few tourists come to this market, making it the ideal destination for local interaction and photos.

Continue further 30 minutes to Salay, an important Buddhism center of Myanmar with many monasteries. Many years ago, Salay created its own unique architecture style of Bagan-era. With your visit here you will get the chance to learn more about the monastic life, Burmese Buddhism and this unique architectural style at several sights like Yoke SoneKyaung monastery, one of the most antique wooden halls in the area.
 
Then you head to east toward Mt Popa, an 1518 meter high extinct volcano. You will reach this place at noon, where you will be served with lunch in a local restaurant with fabulous views over the surrounding area.

Mt Popa was an important part in Myanmar’s culture, religion and history since earliest times. Its shrine is dedicated to worship the 37 Nats, an old Burmese animist spirit. As you climb the stairs to the top with your local guide, you will gain very interesting knowledge about nats and nat worship. From the top of the peak you can have an amazing view over the Myingyan Plain (note that the climb is optional).
 
Transfer back to Bagan in the late afternoon. 

After enjoying your breakfast you will be transferred to the airport (1 hour) for your domestic flight to Heho. From Heho, you will experience a lovely scenic one-hour drive (32km – 1 hour) which leads to NyaungShwe, gateway village to Inle Lake. Along the way, you will have an opportunity to visit rural workshops that specialize in traditional Shan paper and unique handcrafted umbrellas.

Upon reaching the edge of the lake, take a short orientation tour of NyaungShwe, a small town of narrow streets dotted with temples, monasteries, tea shops and local houses.
 
Then you will board a private motorboat and begin heading out onto Inle Lake, one of Myanmar’s most spectacular and breathtaking sights. Its calm waters are dotted with floating vegetation and fishing canoes, to which scenic hills provide the perfect backdrop. Along the way you will pass several villages that are built on stilts over the lake, which are inhabited by the local Intha people. Observe the daily activities of the local leg-rowing fishermen and see their ‘floating gardens’, which are built up from strips of water hyacinth, earth and anchored to the bottom of the lake with bamboo poles.

You will also visit NgaHpeChaung Monastery, which houses loads of early Shan Buddha Images. In the past this temple was known for its ‘jumping cats’ but these days there are only a few felines roaming around and none are jumping any more. Yet the Buddha images are still worth the visit.
 
Proceed to the PhaungDawOo Pagoda, the lake’s main haven, which contains five sacred images of Buddha decorated in gold leaf. There are also many traditional crafts originating on Inle Lake and, should you wish, group of tour 12 days in Myanmar can stop for a visit to one making incredible woven items from lotus silk, boat builders (depending on the time of year), a cigar making workshop, blacksmiths or even silver smiths. The day will come to a close with a return trip by boat back to your hotel.

An 1-hour boat ride down a small canal will take you to the Pa-Oh village of Indein, positioned on the western shores of Inle Lake. Take a leisurely stroll around the village before ascending a rural road to the top of a hill. Once you’ve arrived at the summit, you will be greeted buy an iconic Buddha image which sits enshrined among hundreds of stupa ruins and overgrown shrubbery. Here, from the peak, you will also be rewarded with mesmerizing views of the placid surroundings.

The Indein Pagoda complex is undoubtedly one of the most amazing sites around the shore of the lake and it consists of hundreds of small stupas which are overrun by moss and greenery. On your boat ride back, should time allow and if you wish, you'll stop at the Inthar Heritage House to learn more about the history and culture of the lake's indigenous people and enjoy a delicious coffee and cake (snack break not included).

After breakfast you visit the Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda to see a 70 meter long reclining Buddha statue around the size of a blue whale.

Afterwards, you continue uptown in order to make a quick stop by the Royal Lake located in Kandawgyi Park which is very popular with local residents, especially in the early morning and around sunset. Catch a view inthe Pansodan Gallery and enjoy a spectacular view of the Golden Shwedagon Pagoda. After sunset head on to Chinatown for a change of scenery and check out the dragons and incense of the colorful Khen Hock Keong Chinese temple. Explore the vibrant street stalls where vendors sell all kinds of fruit, vegetable and other goods or simply just walk around and soak in the atmosphere of this little China in Yangon.
