Thailand’s climate is tropical with a mean annual temperature of 28°C and high humidity. There are three distinct seasons – the hot season from March to May, the cool season from November to February and the rainy season from about June to October.

The vast majority adhere to Buddhism (Theravada form), 5% are Muslim and there are Christian and Hindu minorities.

Thailand’s social history can be traced back to the Neolithic period and has witnessed the rise and fall of a myriad of empires and dynasties. Thailand, as we know it now, came into effect with the establishment of an alliance between three kingdoms: Lan Na, Sukhothai, and Phayao in the 13th century.

The Kingdom of Thailand is a predominantly Buddhist country, and one of the finest countries in the world in which to spend a vacation. Blessed with a tropical climate that is neither too hot, too dry, nor too wet in the monsoon season, it is possible to travel comfortably in Thailand at any time of the year.

An amazing building right on the beach built from all wood with every detail carved out by hand. This more than 100 meter high building has been under construction for more than 20 years. 

Away from Samui’s beaches lies Wat Khunaram temple, known from its mummified monk. His remarkably well preserved body is kept in a glass casket on display in the temple. The monk who died about five decades ago wanted his body to serve as an inspiration for future generations to follow the teachings of the Buddha.

Phraya Nakhon cave is one of Thailand’s best known caves with the famous pavilion built for King Rama V inside. The caves are located in Khao Sam Roi Yot national park with its huge limestone mountains South of Hua Hin.

Phuket's appeal lies in the beauty of the island, and the variety of relatively inexpensive activities on offer. Thailand's largest island has wonderful food, vibrant nightlife, an excellent range of accommodation and great beaches, but there's a lot more to do besides sunbathe!
